New User Optional Fields

This section of the Mystic BBS Configuration System allows the SysOp to configure the third of several sections of settings that apply to new users when registering to join the BBS. Here you can decide if you want to ask new users up to three optional questions.

This example screen displays the options available.

There are currently three additional optional fields you enable to ask new users customised questions when registering with your Mystic BBS. They can be customised using this configuration screen with each row of options pertaining to one optional field.

There are five options you can configure for each optional field:

Ask

Ask the new user optional field #1 during the registration process. Options are Yes or No.

Desc

Sets the name of the field displayed on page 5 of the Mystic BBS user editor when examining an individual users record. This section in the user editor is called 'Optional Data'.

Type

Sets the type of field input the user may enter when providing a response. The options are:

  • Password
  • Lower
  • Yes/No
  • Standard
  • Upper
  • Proper
  • Phone
  • Date
Field

Sets the size of the input field.

Max

Sets the maximum size of input allowed.

Customising Optional Field Text

The text displayed to users when optional fields 1-3 are enabled is found in the mystic\data\default.txt file

Mystic uses prompt #443 in default.txt to display the text for optional field #1.

Mystic uses prompt #445 in default.txt to display the text for optional field #2.

Mystic uses prompt #447 in default.txt to display the text for optional field #3.
