New User Settings 1
This section of the Mystic BBS Configuration System allows the SysOp to configure the first of several sections of settings that apply to new users when registering to join the BBS. Here you can decide if you want to accept new user registrations, assign their initial security level and more.
Allow New Users
If this option is set to 'No', Mystic BBS will not accept new user accounts. Instead, the display file CLOSED.XXX will be displayed and the call will be terminated.
Security
This option is used to set what security level a new user will be upgraded to after successfully completing the new user login procedure.
Password
This option is used to define a new user password. If a password has been defined, a caller who attempts to log in as a new user will be prompted for the new user password before they will be able to continue to log in as a new user.
New User Feedback
This option determines whether or not the user will be required to send feedback e-mail to whoever is configured as “Feedback To” in the configuration when creating a new user account.
Use USA Phone
If this option is set to Yes, Mystic BBS will use USA format phone numbers (XXX-XXX-XXXX).
User Name Format
Sets how Mystic will handle the formatting of the alias and real user name data entered by a new user. There are four options;
- As Typed - Allow alias and user name to be saved as typed by the user.
- Upper - Force the alias and user name to be saved in UPPERCASE.
- Lower - Force the alias and user name to be saved in lower case.
- Proper - Capitalize the first letter of each word that is typed while forcing all other letters as lower case.
Start Msg Group
Start the new user in message group number # - if this is set to 0 then the first available message group will be used.
Start File Group
Start the new user in file group number # - if this is set to 0 then the first available file group will be used.
Start Msg Pointers
This option determines how the message last-read pointers are set up when new user accounts are created. The following options are available:
First Message | Start new users at the first message of each base |
Last Message | Start new users at the last/end of messages in each base |
Last (X) Messages | Start new users at the last X of message base, where the X value is defined by the number in the “Pointer Value” option. For example setting Pointer Value to 10 would set up new users to start at 10 messages base from the last message in each base. |
Last (X) Days Ago | Start new users at messages that are X days old, where the X value is defined by the number in the “Pointer Value” option. For example setting Pointer Value to 30 would start new users at messages that were 30 days old. |
Pointer Value
This option works alongside the Start Msg Pointers option. Refer to documentation for that command for more information
