For each user record the following is listed:

  • their user name
  • their currently assigned security level within Mystic
  • a unique UserID record that was created in Mystic at the time they registered

Select a user name and press enter to reveal six pages of information about the user that can be edited. We'll detail each page below.

Note: The default security level that is assigned a new user is set in New User Settings 1 of the Mystic BBS Configuration System. In the example above we have one new user, one regular user, and one SysOp who has the highest security level of 255.

Information

This page contains personal information supplied by the user at the time they registered.

Note:

This screen allows the sysop to assign a security level from 1-255 where 255 is System Operator. Mystic ships with three default security levels defined (more can be added) and each has a set of associated privileges. The sysop can choose the security level they wish to assign and press enter to confirm it.

The / key will bring up a further command menu option to show/hide other security levels that do not have a description and are assumed to be undefined.

To set the privileges associated with a given security level the sysop uses the Security Level Editor.

A users security level can also be altered in the Settings 1 page of the User Editor.

CTRL+P Reset PW

This option is available on all six pages of the user editor.

This option allows the sysop to set a new password for the user. User passwords can not be seen by the sysop and this option is one way a sysop can help a user (if need be) to reset their password.

Another option is to enable the Allow Reset by E-Mail option in the User Password Policy section of Mystic.

Settings 1

This page contains a number of settings specific to the user that can be set or altered by the sysop.
